The Limerick City Tidy Towns monthly award for March 2018 has gone to La Fromagerie Cheese Limerick for its beautifully maintained unit at 74 Catherine Street. Pictured outside the shop being presented with the award by Maura of Limerick City Tidy Towns is the owner Brian Halpin.
This charming little shop is a wonderful addition to the streetscape of Catherine Street and we were very impressed by the total transformation of this previously empty unit to what is now a beautifully authentic, continental style cheese shop. The large spotless front window allows for attractive displays of the wide variety of produce they sell, and the striking signage, entrance door, paintwork and exterior lamps enhances its appeal, making it feel like a little bit of France in the heart of Limerick city.
La Fromagerie is owned and run by Brian Halpin, and first opened in August 2017. It stocks a wide variety of delicious high-quality gourmet cheese, olives, pate and much more, sourced from all over Europe with an emphasis on the Mediterranean and North Africa. Brian also strives to source as much as possible from local farmers and cheese producers in the Munster region. To see their wide variety of produce for yourself, please drop by the shop, see their Facebook page La Fromagerie Cheese Limerick, or call Brian on 087 670 8613.
La Fromagerie is Limerick City Tidy Towns’ third monthly winner for 2018, following St Michael’s Rowing Club in January and Foot Solutions in February, and will be in with the chance of winning this year’s overall prize at their annual event to be held early in 2019. Their overall winner for 2017, Narrative 4, was announced just last week at Limerick City Tidy Towns annual event
