Limerick City Tidy Towns’ bi-monthly award for March-April 2024 has gone to C Thompson & Sons Undertakers at 40 Thomas Street. Pictured outside the funeral home receiving the award from Maura is owner John Thompson (Photo: Adrian Butler/Limerick Leader)
Thompsons are one of Limerick’s city’s most established funeral directors, having been trusted by the people of Limerick to care for their funeral requirements for almost a century. In that time, the exterior of the funeral home and premises has been consistently beautifully maintained, with traditional signage and immaculate paintwork which is always pristine. Given the service they provide and the number of people who visit the property, often from outside the city, it certainly gives a great impression of the city’s built environment and we are delighted to acknowledge that with this award.
First established in 1927, the Thompson family has a proud tradition in caring for the families of the bereaved over many generations. They consider their role as a facilitator to a family in their most traumatic and upsetting time. As well as arranging church services, newspaper and online notices, music, liturgical readings and non-denominational services, they also arrange everything that may be required including floral tributes, catering services and monumental and inscription of memorials. Worldwide repatriations are also catered for. Their values are respect and compassion, trust and openness to help families through a very difficult time. They can be contacted 24 hours a day on 061 414967 or by email info@thompsonfuneralslimerick.com.
Thompson Undertakers is our second winner for 2024, and will be in with a chance to be our Overall Winner for 2024 at next year’s annual event, along with the Adapt Shop on Parnell Street, who won the January-February award.
